What is Proximity?

Proximity allows a design to be viewed as a whole rather than individual parts. White space is an important part of portraying distance in design. White, or negative, space can be maximized for your design as well. It signals to a reader that there is a distinction between sections. Proximity can even overpower other principles such as similarity.


1Without proper grouping, sites look messy and chaotic.

2 When aligned, elements are easily identifiable.
